Sage Against The Machine Episode 41 - Councillor
Wednesday Mar 04, 2026
Wednesday Mar 04, 2026
Today we welcome Scott Peters to Sage to share his experience as and elected Chief for The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne in the District of Tsisnaihne. Our frank and earnest discussion may shed some light on the workings of The Northern Portion of Akwesasne, and what it takes to get our needs met.
Some of us at Sage have been known to be hypercritical of the elective bodies placed in our communities.
In Haudenosaunee Country tension has existed between Originalist/Traditionalist versus Western Influenced and outright Imposed elective systems. The tale of imperialism is as old as recorded history.
While we may have a difference in ideology the fact remains these organizations administer vital services that Akwesasronon rely upon, interface with the powers that be, and employ hundreds of our friends and family who work diligently to keep the lights on each and every day.
Many thanks to Scott for spending the time to talk with us and for trying to keep up the good fight.

Sage Against The Machine Episode 38 - Tidings
Wednesday Jan 07, 2026
Wednesday Jan 07, 2026
The solstice has come and passed, and we hurtle towards the midwinter time. Many have celebrated the holidays, bellies are full, merriment is made, and our community of Akwesasne has made the national news.
Our community and our people have a long contentious relationship with schools from the earliest missionaries to residential and day schools and later the public school system.
We recognize the challenges, problems and pitfalls while also valuing education and the pursuit of knowledge. While there have been positive strides forward there is a great deal of resentment and unhealed Trauma when it comes to the local public schools, and the latest situation has ripped that collective wound wide open.
A local school that has the word "Mohawk" on the sign but is part of the Public School District was discovered to have a mysterious wooden crate that apparently for use upon children, and all hell has broken loose.
Today Isaac and Joshua talk about this ongoing situation from their perspectives, and also touch upon a growing topic for the North country: nuclear power.

Womens Dance Episode 16 - Gathering The Troops
Wednesday Dec 24, 2025
Wednesday Dec 24, 2025
This is an emergency episode of women's dance in response to a situation in the local school system that is so egregious it's even made national news.
Aunties and mothers are gathering and leading the charge, organizing and responding.
It has come to light the local school district, The Salmon River Central School disctrict was utilizing a positively medieval device: a box, a crate, as a behavioral correction tool for special needs child or children.
Upon learning of the situation the people have risen up demanding Justice accountability and Truth.
This latest situation has also opened up wounds of the past, for the people of Akwesasne have long had a contentious relationship with the local education system.
On this episode of Women's Dance Dr Sarah, Chrissy, Chrystal Lynn and Shara discuss what has been happening, deliver updates, and share their thoughts and feelings on the matter.
